Article: How to get a job if you are overqualified
This article is about how difficult it can be to get a job when you are over qualified. Though most believe that it would be easier for someone with many qualifications to get a job, but in reality it can be difficult. This article includes ideas, advice towards getting a job and not intimidating your employer. It also informs you on how common this issue can be, and how this affects the economy. The author believes that the most important thing is to stay truthful and blunt when you talk to a hopeful employer and if there are underlying reasons behind you looking for the job-like a lack of income- to say this during an interview.
Opinion (restated): always be truthful to the interviewer
Fact (restated): Be blunt when it comes to the job search and economy
Fact (restated): This happens more than many people think.

A. Editor
B. Book Illustrator
C. Writer

2.Social
A. Criminal Justice
B. Librarian
C. Visual arts

3. Realistic
A. Animal Sciences
B. Veternarian
C.Marine Sciences

2. What were your three top career clusters from the second assessment?  After reviewing job titles under each career cluster, list three careers/job titles of interest to you beneath each top career cluster.
1. Art & Entertainment
A. Sketch Artist
B. Photojournalist
C. Police sketch artist

2. Communication & Media
A. Editor

C. Literary Editor

3. Social Science
A. Sociologist
B. Counsling psychiatrist
C. Antropologist

3. Did you notice any overlap of careers?  Are there any job titles of interest which you saw listed on both inventories?  What were they?  Are you interested in those jobs?  Explain.
I am interested in being an editor or journalist, I am also interested in working with criminology. Both tests suggested psychiatry and writing opportunities, as well as art opportunities. I am interested in both the crime aspect of psychiatry, I would like to know why someone does or behaves the way they do. I am also very interested in writing.

4. Choose three most desirable careers to you.  What types of education and training are needed for your top three job choices? For Editors I would need an English major and some things pretaining to Journalism or writing.
For scientists I must work hard in science, passing all of those classes as well as some background with math. But most likely I must do well in chemistry.
For a sketch artist I would just have to do well in art and know how to represent myself well.

5. Outline a plan of how you will reach your career goal.  What steps can you take while still in high school to ensure that you can achieve your career goals?
To reach any of these goals I will need a college degree and a relating major and good grades.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

1. He was a regular guy, running errands for his wife.
2. He is often a hero, helping others, but always intelligent
3.Mrs. Mitty is a very busy person and doesn't treat him very well
4.Because what he thinks he is able to be who ever he wants to be and live the life he wanted, no matter what. I agree completely, you can be whoever you want in your imagination.
5. You've got to follow your dreams, going for the jobs that you would like in your fantasies.
6. "Sheena can you look over these results, I don't understand this?"
"Oh deffinatly." I took the paper from her hands and looked at the findings/
"According to the hair found at the scene, the perpetrator is a 30 year old white male, with a nasty smoking habit, an addiction to alchol and has dark brown hair."
"You were able to get all that infromation from hair?"
"Yeah it's science."
7.I look down at the crime scene photos, looking for the small details others have missed.  The computer is beeping in the corner, the DNA test I had run had a match. I couldn't get my eyes of the pictures though. How could they have missed this? There was a man, standing right behind the room divider his hands pressed to the scene. This was one for the books, maybe a book of my own.
8.I think he did it because he wasn't happy with the life he has now. If he went back to school or found programs that he could take part in, he'd be able to follow one of these ideas he had.
9. Vision as a kid: Soldier, FBI agent, famous athlete
Visions now: Navy Piolit, Captian, Doctor, villian
Actions in school: keep yourself healthy, be athletic, keep grades up
Actions at work: Don't be afraid to do overtime, turn in work on time, show up on time, work hard, talk to someone about your goalsl.

Entry 28:
The Seven Habits of a Highly Effective Teens, allowes students to learn of the things that each of them should be done to do well in school as well as life. By expressing how to be more productive by keeping assignments written down, and staying organized. It also teaches how to learn healthy habits that will help overall  in a working situation, like how to deal with others and have a positive out look to what is going on in most situations. I also learnt things about me, finding out that I have a win-lose mind set and that I need to change my way of thinking to help myself as well as others. Some of what I’ve learnt about myself was hard to hear, but I believe that it may help me in the long run. I learnt that we have to find a balance, allowing you to work hard, as well as relaxing. It’s easy for me to get caught up in work, to spread myself to thin and forget about myself every now and then, but it’s important to put in time for just me as well as others.
I was careful to write down what was required of me in order to keep everything in order and schedule out what I need to do. Writing a mission statement helped me keep my goals in mind, this helped because it’s easy to get caught up in the little every day things, I think that a mission statement helps you remember that the future is not some far off distant thing, but something closer than imagined. I think I’ve gotten better at staying organized, in the end this helped me keep focus, and turn things in on time. I enjoyed the cartoons but really I didn’t read it for that, but for the ideas within it. These ideas helped me reflect on myself and decide what habits I have to change to help myself.
I enjoyed some aspects of the books, such as the stories and the helpful tips, I though didn’t care for a lot of it, he was trying too hard to make it something for children but all and all I don’t think he needed to, we may not be counted as adults, but we are intelligent and can easily read a book without pictures. I also didn’t like that there were so many things that were irrelevant to the text, such as drawings and quotes. I would’ve liked it to be relevant and make more sense than it did.
I still have to work on keeping a win-win mentality. It is going to be a lot of work but I believe it will be worth it. I tend to slip into a win-lose idea when I am not trying to stay positive, I also need to work on working with others instead of doing all of the work. I am aware of these problems and will work hard to improve this.  I would recommend this book. Though I believe that most of this is obvious ideas, instilled in people’s minds at a young age, it helps you keep the end in mind, stay focus, and remember the important things in life. I believe that all and this entire book was very helpful, especially when keeping in mind that I am going to college soon and would like to start off on a good note. This book helped me, and I now know how to keep on this road and stay productive.

Week Five

Journal entry 15:
I would like to think that I am a win-win thinker but if I were to be truthful I'd think that I'm on the edge between lose-win. It doesn't effect me that much but I know for a fact that there have been sometimes when I will let others walk over me in order to avoid confrontation.
Journal entry 16:
The tumor twins are competition and comparison, they can cloud ones views of them selves and cause you to think of yourself in a negative way. These things have a good side and a bad and I think that a little bit of it is good, but a lot is bad.
Journal entry 17:
I win- win situation in my life happened recently. My friend and I are in the same English class and we spend a lot of time doing work for that class. We had to write a paper but didn't know if ours were good. We sat together on my couch for hours, bouncing ideas off each other and helping with sentence structure, grammar, and the paper as a whole. We both got high grades, and I know that if we hadn't worked together our papers would not be as good as they were.

Week Four

Journal Entry 13:
1. My plan for the month is to slowly begin to make a plan for my future, decide if I want to go to Miller-Motte, and call Appalachian or Greensboro.
2. My biggest time wasters are TV, books, and my phone
3. I am defiantly a pleaser I don't want to but I am

7. My fear is my fear of heights, I'm extremely scared of them and this fact makes me plan around avoiding escalators or air planes.
8. I don't let peer-pressure effect me but my mother and friends influence me, but in a positive way.
Journal Entry 14:
1.I love setting clear expectations, it helps me from getting my hopes up for things that are ridiculous and to work hard to get that.
2.Challenging myself. I always think that I can't do things, I say can't a lot, but I try my best to work hard to break these beliefs and challenge my self.
3.Say your sorry, is the best thing I can do, always admitting when your wrong helps you succeed.
4.Listening is a big thing for me my father is bad at hearing and its tough when you don't know if someone is listening or not. So listening helps you understand how other people feel and how you can help others.

My mission is to do something fun, something I love, and work hard to suceed. I really would like to do well and get in to a good college. But I want to have fun while I do it. I don't want to go to class and feel that I am stuck in a rutt bored and depressed. I would like to do something fun that doesn't feel like a total waste of time. After college I don't know what I want to do but I do know I want to write on the side. I love writing and I want to give others the escape I found within the pages of a book. I want to do something that will give interest people and it's a good outlit for my thoughts.
Eleven
Alot of the time I am labled as a loner, scene, emo, or just weird. I'm ok with these lables they don't bother me and I'm used to them. Emo and scene are genera's of music and it doesn't matter to me what others think.I never wake up in the morning and worry if I look 'emo' or if I go against the normal. I'm ok being myself and I am happy with who I am.
Twelve
My mission statement is to be happy. It doesn't matter what I do as long as I work hard and do what I can. My mission is to go to a college, not get stuck in a rutt, and to be who I am and have fun, no matter what I do. I'd like to keep the right kind of people around, the people who will be there for me no matter what, and treat them with the respect they need. I want to be a person who I can be proud of, and so can my parents.

Week Two

Number 4
In school it helps to be proactive because you are more likely to turn in your work at the right time and the work will be better written and well done.

Number 5
I always worry about me future, now that I'm a senior I can't escape the thought that I will be stuck with here while my friends all go out and do something is horrifying. The only way I can think to stop this stress is by spending more time with my friends, focusing on school, and wait patiently for a response.

Number 6
The author is trying to teach us that sometimes you have to make a mistake to know what the right thing to do is. This reminds tme that it is ok to do something wrong because good can come from it.
One habit that has been passed down to me that I would like to change:
How loud I am.
The history of that bad habit is:
My dad is extremely loud and this means that it is easy for people to think I am mad or yelling when in the end I am not.
This bad habit has affected my life in these ways:
It's easy for people to jump to conclusions and cause issues when I really don't mean any thing bad.
By changing the habit:
People will stop complaining about how loud I am and I will be less concious of it.
To change the habit:
I will work hard to speak quietly and maybe even get my hearing checked.

Number 7
self-awarness: the ability to know things about yourself, like if the ways you learn, think, and what is best for you.
coinscience: knowing what is right from wrong
imagination: knowing that there are many possibity not just the first one that comes to mind
will power: the ability to control your actions and thoughts.

I would like to stay organized and work hard, turning everything in.

My learning style/My strengths

1.Linguistic
2. Musical
3. Intera-personal
4. Naturalism

So I had to do one of these quizzes for my English class with Ms. Mobley, and I have to say this quiz was better than the one that she gave us. According to this quiz I got a 100% in Linguistics (different from previous quizzes where my results were pretty inconclusive and small). Here I have rather large scores in Linguistic, Musical,Intra-personal,and Naturalistic. This means that I do my best work by rewriting notes, and creating rhymes and odd little things in order to remember vocabulary and similar things. My other quiz was inconclusive but I know that I am more of a verbal person and I write everything down. I know this about myself but this really reminded me of the best ways for me to learn.
